Pimp my Mac
A horrible slow disk I/O performance on my old MacBookPro 13″ (2013) installed with Ubuntu (22.04, 24.04) makes it almost unusable. Maybe it is caused by a driver issue related to the original Apple AHCI SSD. Starting Firefox with some open tabs was a pain, CPU load average jumped up, I/O wait was raising up to 50.0 – 80.0 wa.
I was able to solve these problems by replacing the Apple SSD with a standard M.2 NVMe SSD. Therefor an adpater like this M.2 nVME SSD Card for Upgrade 2013 2014 2015 MacBook SSD is needed.
